New York Hotels nearby that include the gym facility in reservation fee?|101384

I will be attending a conference at the Hilton New York, 1335 Avenue of the Americas later this year. I have called the facility and while they do have a work out facility, it_s $15/day to use the facility. I think that_s a little insane considering how much you pay to stay in the hotel to begin with. Does anyone know of any hotels that are nearby this address that don_t charge an exorbitant amount to stay AND who do not charge for using the workout facilities?

Why don_t you just go to the New York Sports Club for $5 a day as a visitor? There_s one at E. 59th and Park Ave and anther at E. 51st and Lex(ington) Ave. I don_t know of many hotels who don_t charge for their gym facilities - especially in Midtown Manhattan. If you aren_t able to find one, keep that in mind and visit their website at nysc.com.

The New York Sports Club is connected to the Crowne Plaza Times Square hotel, which was just completely renovated. They charge guests $10 to use the club during peak hours but it is complimentary for hotel guests during off-peak hours. Use of the pool is always free to guests no matter the time.

You also have free use of the Sport Club at any time if you are a gold member of the brand_s Priority Club. The Sports Club features a 50-foot lap pool, steam rooms, saunas, state-of-the-art weight machines and exercise equipment.

About the price, not sure what your budget is but I found an advanced purchase rate for $258.33/night. Also, Crowne Plaza is a ten-minute walk from the Hilton. Hope this helps.

The best way to get a great deal is to book them separately. For flights, check sites like Southwest airlines or US Airways. Also do a search on kayak engine. It will check all airlines going to Vegas and all major travel sites and return the cheapest fare.

There are only two places to look for airline tickets ... Southwest airlines and everywhere else. You will find the same price for the other airlines no matter what site you go to. The reason is they do not discount airline tickets to anyone so they are priced the same. Southwest does not share their ticket sales with anyone and the only way you can book with them is to go to their website.

Hotels are a different situation. Some larger websites can buy blocks of rooms at reduced prices and then they can dicker with the prices they charge. Here is a webpage to help you look for and compare prices so you can compare oranges to oranges and apples to apples.

We_re planning to visit the Burlington area in Vermont and would like some suggestions on where to stay. I don_t necessarily like fancy resorts and I want someplace with great views of nature. Possibly a nice B_B or farm stay? Anyone stayed someplace nice in Vermont and have reviews?

if you_re staying in burlington there are a bunch of hotel chains which would be fine--the views of nature are all over town (lake champlain and the adirondack/green mountains are visible from anywhere in town)...most of the B_B_s are further from burlington in the smaller towns like stowe, jay and killington area...but you_ll have views of nature no matter where you are in VT so no need to stress over that...and any B_B literally will be nice, i_ve never stayed at a bad one..

But when I live in San Diego we saw cars from all over the country driving in and around San Diego. How come no one wants to go the the 3rd world city of Detroit?

Because the word on the streets about detroit is that it is the #1 poorest city in the USA and also that the crime rate is very high. aslo there isnt much to do , they dont have any beaches and stuff. and i heard it was very ugly and dirty, well thats waht i hear about Detroit.

Sand Diego has draw. People want to go to the beach, enjoy the sun, check out the city, etc.

Detriot has a very limited draw, bad weather, and some PR problems it needs to take care of.

What is the best place in Texas to travel in November?|131285

I_d like to get away from the hassle of Thanksgiving this year. As I do most of the work and want to rest this year. Where would you go and what would you do? Have you been there yourself?

I live in the hill country between Austin and San Antonio. The drive on 281 is really kinda pretty if you like the country. It is a 2 lane highway and along the way you can see some smaller towns. It gives you an idea what Texas is really like instead of the big cities. Canyon Lake is north of SA. It is nice to go and drive around. The dam is awesome. Highway 35 is a mess in Austin, so if you want no hassles stay away from it. Hope you have a good time and have fun in Texas. We are very friendly down here.

Just west of Austin is Fredericksburg, Texas that has great German heritage and food. A good one day trip.

I would go to San Antonio for a stop on my way to South Padre Island. A week in a condo at South Padre is about as relaxing as it gets. Winter is the season for shelling along the beach, as well. And....it is warm!

I don_t know what part of Texas you are in now, but I would recommend Jefferson, Texas. It is a quiet little town that has several nice hotels and bed and breakfasts. We love it there. At the end of the month, it will be our fifth time going in three years. There is even a General Store there. It_s like stepping back in time. It_s awesome. Just google Marion County Chamber of Commerce and you will see everything you need to know about the city.

There are two places I recommend: Austin and San Antonio. Both are very close to each other (about a 45 min. drive between the two)

Austin is a fun, hip, younger town because of UT, but there_s a lot of great restaurants and beautiful scenery (like Lake Travis and a quirky place called Hippie Hollow).

San Antonio has the Alamo and the River Walk. It_s very historic. The other missions (San Jose, etc.) are on the southside and if you drive just a little northwest (on the way to Austin, actually) are great historic German towns like New Branfuels and Groene (pronounce _green_).

November is a great time of year to visit. It_s not too hot, but the temperature is warm enough so that you don_t really need a jacket. It_s also the end of the tornado/hurricane season so there_s not a lot of rain. During the summer and early fall San Antonio gets a lot of thunderstorms whenever there are tropical storms in the Gulf.

I grew up in San Antonio. I live in Chicago now, but I go back for the holidays and definitely appreciate it more now that I_ve been away. I think you_ll enjoy both cities. And they_re close enough in proximity that you can spend quality time in both during the same trip.
