What is a good source for keeping up with filming happnening in Boston?|101591

I know more and more movies are being filmed in Boston, and I always hear of people going to see an on-site filming session, or just going for an open casting call or to just see the celebrities.

What is a good source/website or other way to keep up with what is being filmed where?

  • For more information: mafilm.org has an online magazine. Some current filming info included, but primarily a promotional site. The Quincy Film Bureau has a list of South Shore based talent agencies (quincyfilmbureau.com). The jackpot is at newenglandfilm.com, which has current industry information and an active jobs board.

  • Maybe this one. Ben Affleck_s been in my neighborhood all week. Exploding cars, gunfire...

  • How can I get tickets to watch the shuttle launch next week?|178289

Im travelling to florida on saturday and would really like the chance to see the launch, all help appreciated.
    Cheers....

  • You can purchase tickets to view the launch or you can can get access with Kennedy Space Center tour/activites ticket.

Kennedy Space Center Shuttle launch ticket info:

    http://www.ksctickets.com/ltt.html

It depends if they launch the shuttle on Saturday though. I doubt they will because there still may be remains or Ernesto, and there may be some slight damage to the launch pad when Ernesto blows through today.
Call Kennedy Space Center for more information at:
    1-877-893-NASA (6272)

    - Hope this helps :-) Enjoy your trip to Florida

  • When and where should I buy Disney World tickets?|188110

Me and my brother are going to Disney World 12,13,14 of January 2010.

Staying at Walt Disney Swan Hotel.

Want to get the 3 day basic pass ( don_t need hopper ). We are just going on a leisurely trip and planning to stay in one park per day.

Should I buy them ahead of time on the internet or can I just buy them at the hotel?

  • We just got back a couple weeks ago. The other family in our party ordered their tickets from disneyworld.com. They did not get delivered before the trip. It was a real pain and took quite a while to straighten out at the ticket window on our first morning.

I would order online, but not this close to your trip.

  • Its really easy to buy Disney World tickets on the internet . Just visit the link and u can have your tickets:

Why are electricity bills more expensive in one area of Vegas then in another?|110473

Who pays the most on their power bill in las vegas, how much and why?

  • The cost per kilowat hour is the same however Las Vegas is in the Mohave Desert so it depends on which part of the valley you live. Some are hotter than others. The further west toward Red Rock the lower the temp, the further toward Henderson the higher, etc.

And depending on when the home was built, the insulation could be way different and the type of windows.

  • The general cost is regulated per kilowat hour as a previous poster stated. Several factors go into how much a person pays - the most obvious is how energy-efficient a place is. It can be in total shade, but if the AC isn_t efficient, you_re going to spend out the wazoo when the temperature hits 110! Ditto if the appliances are energy suckers.

  • I agree with the other poster. the utility is regulated and cannot selective charge for service. the cost differntial can be climate, as the poster said. also if you have an older house with poor insulation will cost more to heat and light.
I have a 2000 house and it does lack in winter insulation so the heat is higher than I prefer. but have to deal with it.
  • We have a trip to Chicago from Toronto for 2 days. Any advice for attractions and economic hotel?|134230

We have a trip to Chicago from Toronto for 2 days. Any advice for attractions and economic hotel?

  • Well, I usually make the trip the opposite directions (been to Toronto about four times in the past year and ALWAYS visit The Rex... love that place). So it_s good to return the favor.

If this is your first trip to Chicago, I suppose you should see the usual tourist sights first... Millenium Park, Navy Pier, State Street, Michigan Ave., etc. You might also want to throw in the Lincoln Park Zoo (its a free zoo), the Art Institute (great collection and a new modern wing), the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Musem Campus (Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium).

But I highly recommend getting away from the tourist area and seeing _regular_ Chicago. Places like the Wrigleyville area (around Wrigley field, although that can be kinda touristy too), Andersonville (a neigborhood with a Swedish heritage; it sort of reminds me of the Beaches area in TO), Wicker Park (the hipster area, kind of like west on Queen Street), etc. And since it_s getting warmer out, it_s street fair season, so you definitely should check one of those out. They_re all over the city and usually feature live music, food and vendors. Most times they charge you about five bucks to get in, but it_s mostly a fun time.

I recommend picking up a copy of Time Out Chicago magazine to see what_s going on the week you_re here. Or check out the Chicagoist website (It_s run by the same people who run the Torontoist website). They also list things to do that are off the radar.

As for hotels, not sure of what you mean by _economic_ (less than $200? less than $100? Cheaper than that?). Let us know what your price range is (in US dollars).

Also if you haven_t booked your flight yet, check out Porter. It_s the one I use all the time now. Non-stop from Chicago to Toronto for about $200 plus tax. Great.

  • The museum of science and industry has opened the premiere exhibit of the harry potter props - well worth a see if you are a fan - otherwise the museum is actually quite interesting - depends on your interests and what age you and your fellow travellers are. I recently went and stayed in a youth hostel _parthenon_ but _arlington hostel_ is apparently very very nice and in a great area (it was fully booked for when I went).

  • When you are in Chicago your best bet is to stay in Downtown Chicago were all the shopping, entertainments, and restaurants are.

I would recomond to stay at the www.avenuehotelchicago.com as a good upscale but economic hotel in Downtown Chicago.

  • you will love the city of big shoulders. grant park right next to the lake always has something going on. oak st. beach is dynamite. navy pier, science and industry, the magnificient mile, shedd aquarium, the art museum. the nite life on rush. i have been to your wonderful city. i have been to european capitals. there is nothing like chicago. the mid west is the best. it feeds the world.

  • I usually suggest Essex Inn for it_s location right on Michigan Ave. Or Red Roof Inn on Ontario; both relatively low in price.

    Most popular are:

    Navy Pier
    Sear Tower Skydeck
    Millenium Park
    Wrigley Field
Museum Campus -Shedd Aquarium/Adler Planetarium/Field Museum
    Lincoln Park Zoo
    North Ave. Beach
    North Michigan Avenue
    Chicago Architecture Foundation River Tour

  • oooooooooo!! Toronta is AMAZING!!! there_s these cute little islands in the lakes that you HAVE to go to and rent a little car/bike _-- sooo fun!! and go to the CNtower and get to stand on the glass, ARGH!! go to the harbour too, really nice and there_s this really nice shopping place and ice-creamn shop!! XD

  • shedd aquarium, sear_s tower now has a glass bottom, navy pier, museum of science and industry. HYATT REGENCY MCCORMICK PLACE CHICAGO is close to all of these. we went to their website and was able to book a room with a view for $124.00. room looks great, is in a safe area and close to the L

  • obama is from chicago, dont go there

I want to know what and where the biggest party college in LA is, simple question right?

  • I think you should be more concerned about your education rather than partying.

  • UCLA is known for students to partake in overuse of adult beverages. UCSB up in Santa Barbara fer sure, is a party school.

  • not in los angeles but a short drive uc santa barbara is the biggest party school
