i_m from la and have been on many cruises before, but what is the best time to go to canada?

i live in Canada and if you are cruising on a cruise ship then summer, late sping or early fall is best. but if by cruise you mean travel to it all depends on what you want to do here. as far as scenery and night life there are advantages to all of the seasons. however if there is a particular activity you want to do than that type thing is season and weather dependent.

Me and my friend are wanting to go on a road trip across america for 3 months, we need to know how much it would cost roughly including food drink and motels. We want 2 separate beds but same room if possible,if u could help where possible i would really appreciate it thank you.

More than you can probable afford. If you spent $60 a day ($40 for the motel and $20 on food) it would be $5400 dollars. If you add in gas it would be about $6200 per person.

If you_re not going to work at any stage I_d estimate about $300 per week would be OK. Depends on the type of motels and your mode of travelling. But the USA is cheaper than the UK.

I would take about ��20-25 per day for drink and food. More if you have nowhere to sleep ... the beech or parks aren_t a good idea ...

How long does it take to drive from Cape Cod to Boston, Mass?|198123

I_m planning a trip to this area in august and i was wondering if i could get a hotel in 1 city and just drive to the other, or it i needed 2 hotels. After Mass., we_re going to Maine. Do you also have any ideas for things to do on this trip

Cape Cod is a fairly big place. It takes about an hour to drive from Boston to the Sandwich Bridge - more on a Friday afternoon in August! From Sandwich, its a good hour to Provincetown, perhaps a bit less to Hyannis. By the way, another option is a ferry from Boston to Provincetown.

So you could do a day trip to the Cape from Boston, but you won_t have a lot of time available to do much on the Cape once you get there.

Seems to me that you need to do some thinking about what you want to do - in Boston, on the Cape, and also in Maine. After you make those decisions, the logistics are easier to plan.

It takes at least an hour to get to Boston to Cape Cod. I_ve driven from Boston to Cape Cod, and that is how long it took me to get there. You only need one hotel there.

As for Maine, I don_t know if you_re going to Portland or venturing further up north, but I_d get a hotel somewhere in Maine close to your attractions.

I can suggest many things to do in Boston, for example, riding on the swan boats in Boston Public Garden, taking a sightseeing tour of Boston which will include the Freedom Trail, visiting the USS Constitution (Old Ironsides), visit the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, The New England Aquarium is excellent, Franklin Park Zoo, get a great view of the city at The Prudential Center_s Skywalk Tower.

As for Cape Cod, I enjoyed whale watching, sightseeing cruises, kayaking, wildlife watching at the Cape Cod National Seashore, The Monomony Islands, and The Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, and there_s plenty of good hiking trails on Cape Cod, too. For example, Small_s Swamp Trail, Button Brush Trail, Sphor Gardens, Wellfleet Trails.

I also highly recommend visiting the White Mountains of New Hampshire and Franconia Notch State Park in New Hampshire if you have the time. They are both places filled with great scenic beauty.

It_s at least one hour, possibly 2-3 depending on traffic to travel between Boston and Cape Cod. As someone else noted, avoid this trip on Friday night and Sunday night.

In addition to things to do that others mentioned, have you considered a ferry boat ride to Martha_s Vineyard ? It_s only 45 mins from Cape Cod and is beautiful. Also, politics aside, Obama is rumored to be staying there for 2 weeks in August.

If you_re going to the Cape while staying in Boston, heed these words: DON_T DRIVE TO THE CAPE ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON unless you_re prepared to wait in traffic, even though it_s a lot better than it was before they got rid of the _rotary_. Also this tip from the Dennis Chamber of Commerce website: _Time: With normal traffic the ride from Boston to Dennis takes 1? hours. Typically summer traffic is much heavier and can extend the travel time to 3 hours+. When planning your trip to Dennis keep in mind that traffic coming ��on-Cape�� is heaviest on Saturday afternoons in the summer season. When leaving or going ��off-Cape,�� traffic is heaviest on Saturday mornings._

Don_t try to _stay in Boston_ while visiting Maine.. Way too much _getting there_ driving. When you get into Portsmouth, NH., follow the signs off I-95 to US1 (the _old_ way!). First Maine town you_ll hit is Kittery. Well worth exploring and for shopping, Route 1 is lined with _Outlets_. York and York harbor are scenic and there_s a nice beach (although Maine ocean water can be COLD.). Wells and Old Orchard are usually loaded with tourists and sometimes referred to as the _Quebec Riviera_ due to the number of summer visitors from Quebec. Be advised that traffic can be really slow through there, (but it_s not hard to jump back on I-95 and back off again anywhere south of Portland). Kennebunk and Kennebunkport are a more upscale and low-key tourist areas and quite scenic. Do not miss the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunk on Log Cabin Rd. See and ride restored vintage trolley cars (streetcars) from all over the U.S. and the world. Great for kids too! Portland is Maine_s largest city and well worth exploring, Freeport is another _shopper_s paradise_ and home of the world famous L.L. Bean store (24/7/365) and we haven_t got to my favorite part of Maine yet which is _mid-coast_ (Bath - Rockland) if you get that far, see Bath Ironworks_ shipyard (unless of course you boarded the Maine Eastern Railroad_ scenic train in Brunswick for Wiscasset or Rockland). Check out _Big Al_s_ store just before entering Wiscasset (you_ll probably be in a traffic jam anyway and they have a restroom!). Otherwise, explore! If you get as far as Waldoboro, watch on your right at the top of a hill and right after a traffic light for Moody_s Diner. Real _old fashioned_ diner food! No _yuppie stuff_ here! Great food, breakfast, lunch or dinner and, yes it_s where quite a few of the _locals_ go. You_re then less than 30 minutes from Rockland, the _Lobster (and former Sardine) capitol of the world_. Enjoy! Be advised that Boston - Rockland driving directly is about 306 Km (190 mi.). I could go on and on with things to see and do in this area. Enjoy!

Walking down the street anywhere near emory you pass these 18 inch or so tall and 4 inch wide in both directions concrete rectangular blocks. They have engravings on them that vary. The one i most recently passed had _R/W_ written down the side, and most if not all have an x on top.

I personally can_t make an recommendations, because I have only ever gone to Orlando to go to Disney World.

You could always leave the kids with a sitter. They have great sitting services for children staying in hotels in orlando. Kids Nite Out is bonded, insured and pretty reasonable priced. Its 14 dollars an hour for one child and 2.50 each additional child. My husband and I are going in December and plan on using their services. That way we can have some adult time away from the kids and ride some of the scarier rides. Here is their web address:

You could go to the Science Center in Orlando. My five year old stepson likes that a lot. There_s a children_s museum in Lakeland/Winter Haven area that isn_t too far away. In Tampa there_s a nice aquarium. That is over an hour_s drive though.

Hire a babysitter. One and three year olds don_t know about New Year_s and they get bored easily. Spare them the suffering.

Check out the museums and zoo. They also have an boat ride their you can take.

For families the Nickelodeon Family Suites by Holiday Inn is exciting. Everything is right there on site; there are a number of dining options, pools, games and entertainment for kids, plus a new spa for parents, and more. They also offer discounts and special packages for families.

And, the hotel is just down the road from Downtown Disney where the kids can play with legos at a huge Lego store, enjoy family entertainment, and more fun Disney stuff without going to the parks.

I_m not sure if you live in Orlando or you will be vacationing there over New Years, but if you live there a nice day at home watching the ball drop would be nice. Maybe start some traditions...I_ll be 22 soon and I still go home for New Years every year just because of the traditions that we have...We make special food and stay up and laugh and play games and talk until the ball drops and then we go outside and bang pots and pans together...yeah, it sounds cheesy, maybe a little strange, but it brings the whole family together and that_s the best part...If you are going to be vacationing there, I would ask the kids if there is anything special that they would like to do...sure they may say silly things, but you could incorporate their ideas into whatever you decide to do and make them feel special

Right now I have lived with my mom for 2mths and I need to make sure that the father of my child doesnt come here to take her away from me. The courts here are saying there is nothing to do except to put it off for 6mths but I need help now... What state is going to help me be safe with her????

Don_t think the travel section is the best place to find an answer to that. If the courts are involved, you_d want to discuss this with your lawyer. If he has a history of violence against you and your child, you may be able to get an order of protection.

How is public transportation in Philadelphia near Temple University?|176046

Hello! I will be attending Temple University this fall and live on campus. I dont have a car ( Im hoping to buy one before I leave for school, but may not have the money), and wanted to know if commuting around Philly buy subway and metro is convienent or not. Ive never been to Philly, but hope to be able to get around the city and then some on public transit.

So, If you know or have used Philly transit, how is it???

There_s plenty and you can get around easily, if you_re willing to hop from bus to subway to trolley _ train. A monthly pass is reasonable and gives you unlimited rides within a certain zone, so your travels in and around Temple will be cheap enough. However, it_s not the safest transit system so keep your ears open and stay alert, no drowsing off by the window seat with your iPod playing!

I am a Freshman now at Temple. I live in 1940 and I have taken the subway and train around - which are both very convenient. I have never taken a bus - although I know there is the Temple Owl Loop (that brings you around campus) as well as buses to Ambler Campus and Elkins Park.

On the most part, if you are planning on taking classes on main campus and maybe going into the city for shopping/museums/sightseeing/etc you should be fine taking the Regional Rail or the Subway (which are on the edge of campus but not off campus).
As far as security goes, the train station is in a somewhat bad area and the subway is a little (pardon my language) _ghetto fabulous_ at times - I would avoid taking either alone at night. It_s a good idea to travel with groups of people.

P.S. I don_t know where you are from, but keep in mind - you should visit Temple before making your final decision. The area is a bit rough. But hey, it might be the school of your dreams!

I work and live in Philly and I take public trans to work everyday because parking sucks in Center City. And I have no problem most buses run every 10 -15 minutes during peak hours and off peak hours a pretty good as well. The trains or okay as well. I never had a problem been using it for about 15 plus years.
