I have been to Hollywood plenty of times but I decided for my Spring Break I want to see a new side, my boyfriend and I want to try one of those haunted tours has anyone been on one or has one to recommend?

3 of my friends and I are planning to go to Disney-world for graduation in 2011 and were wondering how long we should plan to spend in the parks

We don_t plan to go to any of the water parks, just The Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood studios and Animal Kingdom.

We would also like at least half a day shopping in Downtown Disney.

We_re planning to go in July, which I know is peak season, so the parks may be busy. And we_re also planning to stay in a disney hotel, so we get the extra time in the morning and at night.

What would you recommend?

On average, most people plan one full day for Hollywood Studios, one full day for Animal Kingdom, two full days for Magic Kingdom, and two full days for Epcot. And you still won_t see it all. It_s better to just read up and see what will work for you and what you want to do. By-the-way, while crowds are important, it is more important to have a good plan. Honestly, I_ve been to Disney over 20 times in my life and have never done all Disney World has to offer.

Magic Kingdom is a large park and if you want to do it all, it will take you at least two days especially during a busy season. Epcot is also large and if you want to do the walk around the World Showcase it will take extra time. Animal Kingdom has easily be done in one day, don_t go their when it_s raining there is nowhere to hide. Hollywood Studios will take you two days if you want to see every show they have to offer, if you just want to pick and chose, one day will be fine. Downtown Disney is sort of funner to shop at night with all the lights and nightlife going on.

I_ve been there over 20 times and I_d say you can knock out the parks in 3 days. W/ the extra magic hours it gives you a ridiculous amount of time to accomplish everything you wanna do. So I_d say 3 days if you got the park hopper if not than 4. But you can seriously knock out 2 parks in a day if you_ve been before and only like certain things.

magic kingdom- 2 days
epcot- 1 day
hollywood studios- 1 day
animal kingdom- 1/2-3/4 of a day
one day to relax in the morning and early afternoon and then go to downtown disney for a few hours.

so about 6 days in total.

and depending on your budget i recommend these disney world hotels.
value resort (least expensive)- POP CENTURY
moderate resort (moderately priced)-PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER
deluxe resort (most expensive)- THE CONTEMPORARY

Well me and my boyfriend are planning to do all four parks in two days. We are staying at a Disney Resort Hotel so we get to use the extra magic evening hours. We_re doing Animal Kingdom and Epcot the first day, and MGM and Magic Kingdom the second day. We have both been before and since it_s just the two of us, we can skip over the rides we don_t like.

If you like to go fast this would be a good way to do it but if not a week should be enough time.

Stay for a week. You_ll get to do everything. EVERYTHING.

And if you want to do alot in one day, when you purchase the tickets, make sure to add the Park Hopper option so you can flip flop to different parks a day.

It will take you a week to at least experience all of what you want to do. If you want to see and ride everything, it will take you longer.

We go for 2 weeks every year and it isn_t long enough. You need at least one week no less

I actually just came back from Disney on July 19 th and I would suggest staying for at least a week. The parks were crowded and the waits were on average about 90 minutes for some of the bigger rides like Splash Mountain and Test Track. But if you take advantage of the morning and afternoon magic hours and fast passes you will be able to do all of the major attractions in 1 park in about a half of day! We just did all four parks in two days! Granted we skipped some of the smaller rides but it can be done. Check out my guide below. There are several tips and tricks you can use to get around the lines. Hoped this helped!

Well, I would recommend doing a 7 day trip. This allows you some time to relax and enjoy Orlando/Disney property. If you drive down, you could even drive to Clearwater Beach, or go shopping at the outlets! Downtown Disney doesn_t have much non-Disney merch. If you don_t, you can choose to go back to your favourite parks! I would get a 5 Day park hopper + water parks _ more fun option added on to your passes. Look for some promo_s like Buy 4 Nights, Get 3 Nights free, and the Disney dining plan.

The water parks are awesome - you really should go! :) You can add it on to your Disney passes. They are for sure worth going to. My friend and I went on our last trip to Florida (June 27-July 11) and fell in love with Typhoon Lagoon! (if you miss the beach, this is the place to go) and Blizzard Beach has some awesome _thrill_ water slides! We went July 3rd, and the parks were closed to capacity (waterparks). The parks close to capacity on July 4th. Seriously, busy busy busy (the above poster probably hasn_t been around July 4th if they say it_s not busy).

The parks WILL be busy. It is one of the busiest times of the year. Save money by staying at the Value resorts. All the magic of Disney, for a budget! Plus, you get use of Extra Magic Hours and Disney transportation. If you fly you can use the Magical Express. Moderate resorts are nicer, and I would go with Port Orleans French Quarter, or Caribbean Beach. As for Deluxe, Beach Club wins hands down because of Stormalong Bay (sand bottom pool)

I would honestly go for as long as your budget allows, I have been to Disney almost every year since I was born (I_m now 23) and I_ve been at all different times, stayed at different hotels and gone as a family trip, a friends trip and just me and my boyfriend. While July isn_t as crowded as Christmas, it is still crowded and HOT! So I would suggest the following plan: Stay at a Disney hotel so you can use their transportation, extra magic hours and pool, I would also get the park hopper tickets and get to one park when it opens in the morning use your fastpass to do as many attractions as you can by lunch and then leave and go back to your hotel to relax by the pool (the heat and crowds are the worst in the afternoon and you_ll be glad to have the time to cool down and rest) After your day at the pool, go to a different park at night for dinner and more attractions (make dinner reservations as far in advance as you can as they fill up very fast) My boyfriend and I used this system when we went last September and we were able to go to each park more than once, downtown, and a waterpark in 5nights/6days. I would recommend joining a disney discussion board so that disney experts can answer all of your questions and you can see their trip reports, touring plans and suggestions, I use disboards.com and it_s really great! It_ll take more than one day to do what you guys are planning to do.

In July, the parks surprisingly aren_t that busy. It_s nothing like Christmas or New Years, trust me. I_ve been. It is right after Star Wars Weekend has ended and before the Food and Wine Festival begins, so it_s a good time to go.

Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Disney Hollywood Studios, you can do in a day. Roughly a morning if you take advantage of the Early Morning Hours.

What I usually do when I_m in Disney is doing one of the smaller parks in the morning, and then eating lunch at a resort, then heading to Epcot. Epcot is HUGE, and unless you feel like walking a lot in one day, I suggest you do this in separate days. Remember that the tickets get cheaper per day the more days you go. Downtown Disney opens up at 10 am, buses begin running at 9:15-9:30. You can make a morning (or night of that). You can head to a park in the morning, catch a bus to the Saratoga Springs and take a boat to Downtown Disney, or you can go to your resort and catch a bus. It depends on if you want fast or leisurely. You can eat lunch at one of the many yummy restaurants in Downtown Disney and shop all night. House of Blues also has concerts nightly.

What is the difference between being on a guest list and reserving a table?|157002

My friends and I are planning on going to Las Vegas this May and the club (Moon, if you care) offered to put us on a guest list and we would get in for free. I just want to make sure this is different than reserving a table and paying for bottle service.

Guest List:

You get in without paying a cover but you still have to stay in the guest list line, which is quite long. Anyone can get on the guest list, just send a club promoter a message via myspace and you_re on the list. They need to meet a quota and will do anything to put people on the guest list.

You get no special treatment when you_re inside the club.
Table service:

Depending on the club, this is quite expensive. When you pay for bottle service you get a place to sit down and have VIP access, depends on the club, to celebrities. An example of this is at LAX.

You get special treatment inside the club.

Being on a guest list means that you don_t have to pay the cover charge to get in.

also,

some _guest lists_ get shut down at certain times. and some still have you pay a reduced cover of sorts.

a guest list is what used to be known as you were cool and able to breeze in. those days are gone. now if youre able to breeze in, you will do exactly that. not even wait in a line.

with the case of some celebrities, their people have called the clubs people and there is a vip host that knows they are arriving.

for men, i would suggest just getting a bottle. if you call ahead (which you would want to do, because 99% of the time tables are prebooked) you will gain entrance into the club the same way as celebrities. you wont have to wait in line. and you will have women looking at your table, and if youre cute enough come join you. or even go pick some out yourself, but its a lot more attractive for a guy to say, hey.. do you want to come to my table? we have a bottle of ketel 1.. as opposed to, hey lets wait at this 4 deep bar and order a drink and its so loud i bet you cant even hear me asking you this...

for women, you can usually find a guy that has table service and just sit yourself on down. :)

How long does it take to tour Kennedy Space Center?|139628

Going to Orlando next month for 4 night cruise and 4 days at WDW. We are trying to find a way to fit in KSC into our schedule, but we really don_t have a free day. Can we do it in 2-3 hours? What would you recommend? Is it worth the price of admission?

You really would need at least half a day to see everything. Space travel isn_t one of my top interests, but KSC is actually a really cool place. In 2-3 hours you could probably see most of the exhibits in the buildings, as well as the rocket garden. However, there is an IMAX there, a space shuttle launch simulator and a two-hour bus tour that takes you where civilians usually aren_t allowed to go to see things like launch sites and where they make parts for the space station, etc.

It_s very much worth the price of admission. If you are there in the later part of the afternoon, they usually have a short lecture in one of the buildings. An American Astronaut is there to talk about what it_s like to do a shuttle mission. This alone is worth the effort. They have a shuttle simulator that_s awesome. KSC is probably one of the best kept secrets in Florida.

I_ve never been there, but my husband went when he was in Florida on a business trip. He says that there is enough there to see to take up a whole day or even more. He loved it!

What Beaches in or near NYC for the 4th of July?|192072

I am planning on spending a nice, (hopefully) quiet 4th. I_ve decided to go to a beach, but I_m new to the city and not sure where to go. Hopefully, somewhere clean and not terribly crowded. Don_t really care which of the boroughs, if you have some suggestions in Jersey, that would work too. Do you think the water would be warm at this time?

And please don_t suggest Coney, I did a little research and have already crossed that one out. Save that for another time. Thanks.

How did Highland park become as bad of an area it is?|110289

It_s worse than the place formerly known as Cabenie Green that used to be in Chicago.

Hamtramack and Highland Park have got to be the worst parts of Detroit.

Why hasn_t anyone given any consideration to cleaning up these places?

Hamtramack and Highland Park are separate cities that happen to be surrounded by Detroit. Detroit has nothing to do with those cities.
I can_t say much for Hamtramack, except there used to be a lot of Polish people there. They had nice stores, and a feeling of safeness.
Highland Park was once a city were the elite lived, you could probably compare it to today_s Birmingham. They had lots of small shops, was where Henry Ford had his first assembly line. Chrysler_s world headquarters were there until the 90_s. The Davison Freeway was the FIRST freeway in the world ( all 2.8 miles of it)
Highland Park is the birthplace of Bill Haley, the artist who first made music that later became known as rock_n_ roll.
The Ford plant gave birth to Hazel Park ( known as a bedroom community) The workers couldn_t afford to live in Highland Park.
My Dad spent the early part of his life in Highland Park, he showed me the house that he grew up in, it was a mansion.
Take a drive through Highlan Park, you can see the once lavish homes.....all wasted.
There is still some industry in Highland Park but 90% of its gone. I don_t know how they exist with no Tax base. What that and those city_s need is major investment.

DRUGS. Plain and simple. Drugs and poverty took over Highland park and turned it into a land of crackheads and prostitutes.

Hamtramck is nowhere near as bad as Highland Park. Both these towns are broke as crap though so they don_t even have the money to clean it up if they wanted to.

Maybe if the Mayor stops getting lawsuits thrown at him, we_d have more money to help these cities out.

No one that lives in Highland Park cares. I don_t know about Hamtramack.
Neither has any industry for a tax base. Any companies that were viable left them decades ago.

When the economy changed in the 1960s people started taking single family homes and turning them into apartments. The people living there didn_t have the right to fix things up (because they were renters) or the money (economic downturn) and things just got worse and worse.

While there are huge problems with drugs and some people don_t care, most of the people there care about their community but don_t have the tax base in the city government to do much about it. There have been recent improvements and development in the area, including a new very nice strip mall with an Aldi.

Hamtramck is a vibrant community with a lot of eclectic shops, etc. It is NOT the worst part of Detroit.

That is solid evidence that political figure heads like Kwame Kilpatrick only cared about the welfare of his own neighbor hood and ignores the needs of the rest of the city.

Let_s just say that the area doesn_t have a very high rate of intellegence.......

Is there any laid back coffee shops in NYC where I could lounge and study for a few hours?|157693

I am looking for a coffee shop preferable in Manhattan where I can lounge and read books for a couple of hours over a cup of coffee.

Everything I_ve been finding so far has wooden chairs and tables with this quick drink and go environment. I haven_t found anything with couches or where lounging is encouraged. Any ideas?
