What are some MUST things to see in Walt Disney World?|172979

Hi. Me and my family are planning a trip to Disney World in December 27th to Janurary 6th. We went there 5 years ago, but we are going back again, and they changed the parks alot. What are some MUST see things?

Ohana_s at the Polynesian is a great place to go and eat. Especially at the close of Magic Kingdom because you get a great view of the fireworks.

When you_re going, there are plenty of things to do. If you haven_t seen Wishes, the fireworks show at MK, Wishes, in my own opinion, is the best fireworks show that Disney has. They incorporate Christmas themed fireworks. Disney keeps the Christmas decorations until after January 1st. They have the Osbourne Lights at Disney Hollywood Studios. There is a lighting ceremony that they make the lights dance to Trans Siberian Orchestra. This runs until January 4th.

Also, Disney opened up Toy Story Mania, it_s much like Buzz Lightyear Ranger Spin, but it has multiple games instead of one. Also, on New Years Eve, Disney Hollywood Studios holds a block party, with Dj_s and music. It_s quite fun.

Disney has a lot of things to do while you_re there. Soarin, Mission Space, (new rides in the past 5 years), and Future World (It has been updated) are not miss things. Space Mountain is planned to be open in November, so you_ll get to experience the new refurbished Space Mountain.

Also, Animal Kingdom has the Expedition Everest, and Kali River Rapids.

Well, there are 4 parks, Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingodm, and Disneys HollywoodStudios. some of the things i mention will be good for mostly little kids*

Epcot:
mission space
spaceship:earth (its inside the giant golfball thing)
test track
all the countries
soarin

and i think thats about it... for soarin and test track you need to get fast passes, the lines are really long! also, if you get tired you may want to ride the finding nemo ride in the seas buliding. all you do is sit down and watch snipets of the film bascially. then after wards you end in an aquarium, it cool.

Magic Kingdom:
dumbo
its a small world (classic)
splash mountain (you dont get that wet)
tthe railroad rollercaoster (forget the name :/)
buzz lightyears ranger spin
space mountain (if its open it wasnt when i was there a week ago)
peter pans flight
theres a LOT more but those are probably the musts.

Animal Kingdom:
its tough to be a bug (its like a play kinda)
kali river rapids (wet ride)
expedition everest (fast pass)
Dinosaur (awesome kinda scary lol)
and the safaris if you want to

Disneys hollywood studions:
tower of terror
th rockin rollercoaster
fantasmic (fireworks show)
toy story midway mania (my favorite :)

thats about it... i know it looks like a lot but you can get through it :)

We do have a car, but don_t want to have to travel too far. Please also give me an example of how much the food costs. I am looking for some inexpensive places and a few more expensive places as well. Thanks!

I personally recommend Redd Rockett_s Pizza Port, Rancho del Zocalo, and Tomorrowland Terrace for the cheaper places [although none of them are truly cheap!].

I recommend: Rainforest Cafe (food isn_t the best, but the scenery is wonderful), La Brea Bakery Cafe, and Ralph Brennan_s Jazz Kitchen.

The only place actually outside of Disneyland _ Downtown Disney I know of is Captain Kids, and I would never recommend anyone to go there, even if I hate them. It_s terrible!

There is a lot of good food inside the park. There_s a place in New Orleans Square, I think it_s called The Mint Julep, which I usually eat at them I_m there. I recommend the clam chowder in a bread bowl, it_s really good. Most of the restaurants in the park are around the same price and eating two meals there can get a bit pricey. There is another place on Main Street, I think it_s called the Carnation Cafe, but I_m not certain, which I like as well. It_s also a great place to view the parade that comes down Main Street if you sit down to eat a little before the parade begins. I would steer clear of the big restaurants in Downtown Disney, they tend to be rather expensive. They do usually have menus outside though, so you can always check them out. There is a McDonalds and other fast food places right around the park as well.

Most places in the actual resort are really good. The pricier resteraunts are in the hotels but for lunch or something at Disneyland park I_d go with:

Pizza Port in Tomorrowland
Village Haus in Fantasyland
Plaza Inn on Main Street
or
The Country Bear Place in Critter Country

I_m not that up to date on California Adventure resteraunts but the Wine Country Trattoria is good but a little more expensive.

The resteraunts in Downtown Disney are all really good, especially the Rainforest Cafe, the Jazz Kitchen and the La Brea Bakery.

You can just walk down Harbor BLVD or Katella and they_ll be plenty to eat.
Ok well on the less expensive side there is a McDonald_s, Ihop, Taco Bell, Millie_s Restaurant, and a Denny_s on Harbor BLVD. On the same street and a bit more expensive Mimi_s Cafe, TGI Friday_s. Um in the Garden Walk there is aJohnnyy Rockets which is okay, O also in the Downtown Disney area there is the House of Blues, The Jazz Kitchen, and The Rain forestt Cafe. I hope u enjoy your stay here in Anaheim....O Irecommendd you visit Knott_s Berry Farm really nice there,

Inside the park:
Carnation Cafe- on Main St- about $10.
Pizza Port- in Tomorrowland- Decent pizza and pasta, under $10
Cafe Orleans- Bit of a New Orleans influence, home of tasty fries, the Monte Cristo Sandwich (originally only at the Blue Bayou), and beignets. About $15.

Village Haus? NOT. Basically burgers.
The Hungry Bear (Critter Country)? As one cast member describes it, _Food so good they feed it to the ducks_.

Blue Bayou: Best place inside Disneyland, with prices to match. $20+
Plaza Inn: Great Chicken Dinner, $13

In California Adventure, the Trattoria is about it. Boudin Bakery is pretty good, with sourdough bread bowls full of chowder.

In Downtown Disney, Rainforest Cafe is decent food in a cool rainforest setting. Naples is really good Italian, but a bit pricy. Tortilla Jo_s is good Mexican, under $15.

There is a McDonald_s across the street, but by the time you get there and get back, you_ve spent a lot of time that could be used to ride a ride.

Granvilles steak house ($30 to $40 per preson). It_s at the disney hotel. Kinda pricey if you start ordering bottles of wine, but not too bad. There_s lots of places to eat in OC, if you head south on Harbor there_s a Joes Crab Shack and a Buca di Bepo($15-20), or go east on Katella And there_s the Garden Walk, Roy_s, Bubba gump($15-25pp) there_s an El torito near there and a CPK. If you wanna spend a little more money just keep driving until you get to Orange Hill,($40-ish pp) but be sure to make a reservation. If you let me know what type of food or atmosphere you_re looking for, I could be more helpful. I almost forgot Mr.Stoxx($40-$50+), on Katella just past the I-5 pricey but damn good.

At Disneyland, everything could get a little pricey, but honestly, my favorite part is the food. I_d definitely recommend trying corn dogs, which are located on main street. They are around $7 (?) but they are extremely good. I_d also recommend a clam chowder bowl from the french market.

One of the best places I have eaten in California within 10 miles of Disneyland is a barbecue restaurant called Johnny Rebs_ See the website below for their menu, it was really good and I_m not really a barbecue fan.

What are some things to do in Red Feather Lakes Colorado?|195804

Where going on a trip to red feather lakes colorado. We already got a place to stay picked out. I need to know things you can do there (and maps of where they are located) Anything from shopping, horseback riding, museums and planetariums etc. No camping or rafting.

Red Feather Lakes is fairly isolated. If your looking for city activities...you should really visit a city. Your best bet is to take some day trips to the Estes Park area for _shopping, horseback riding, museums, etc._ You can drive a scenic route to Estes from Red Feather in about 45 minutes to an hour. There is good dining, lots of shopping, and various other activities. Estes is also where the hotel used in _The Shinning_ is located. There are antique shops and a museum as well. Red Feather is an absolutely beautiful area to visit, have fun!

What kind of transportation would be good from Baltimore airport to Washington DC--with a 6 month old?|193608

We_re thinking of flying to Baltimore, spending a day, then going to Washington DC for a few days. We_ll be traveling with our 6-month old daughter, and I_m trying to figure out what would be the best way to travel from Baltimore to DC with luggage and a baby. Any suggestions?

The train is certainly an option. To clarify what was said above, for those who are unfamiliar, MARC is a commuter train run by the state of Maryland. It operates on the same tracks as Amtrak. However, as a commuter train, it only operates on weekdays and is typically packed with, well, commuters. It may not be the best thing for a 6-month old.

The other problem is getting a 6-month old and luggage to and from train stations. It may be more hassle then it_s really worth. If you can, you may be better off (and less stressed) just taking a cab for the entire journey. A taxi has cost me $60 in the past, but I wasn_t traveling with luggage. If you plan it ahead of time, you may be able to arrange flat-rate transportation from Baltimore.

Amtrak is the best option. There is a free shuttle that takes you directly to the Amtrak station from BWI airport. She_ll love the motion of the train and you can sit back, relax and watch the scenery go by. Amtrak will take you directly to Union Station where you can catch a cab to your hotel, or Metro to the suburbs if that_s your selection.

Amtrak also has luggage check service, if you like. Much more civilized than a bus.

You are better off taking the MARC train, instead of Amtrak as it is cheaper and faster. To go from Balt to DC via Amtrak it_s about $30 per person. For MARC, it_s $7.00 on the Penn line.

What to do in Minneapolis, Minnesota -- and the surrounding area?|194382

My husband and our kids (boys ages 4 and 7) are considering a trip to Minnesota this summer. We have family in Pine City (about an hour north of Minneapolis) that we would be seeing. Any ideas for outdoor and indoor attractions? We usually are tent campers, but since we_ll be flying to MN, I think we_ll look into renting a cabin. Thanks for the suggestions!

Fishing is a great one in Minnesota so I_d suggest bringing a fishing rod! As for Minneapolis, thats a big city so not alot of cabins there although near there is the Mall Of America (MOA) and its the biggest mall in america. They have a indoor water park and plenty of shopping places, I do go there often since I live in Minnesota and I enjoy it. Vallyfair is a amusement park thats really fun here also.

I live in Minneapolis. In terms of indoor attractions I recommend the Walker Art Center and Sculpture Garden, the American Swedish Institute,the Science Museum of MN in St. Paul, and of course, the Mall of America in Bloomington. I_m sure your kids will like the indoor amusement park at the mall, but it_s not Knotts Camp Snoopy anymore. I think it now has the boring moniker of the Park at Mall of America.

In terms of outdoor recreation are, of course, thousands of lakes. We also have the Mississippi and St Croix Rivers. Scenic attractions I recommend are Taylors Falls on the St croix, which is about an hour northeast of St Paul; Itasca State Park in north- central MN where the Mississippi has its source; and the drive along Lake Superior between Duluth and Canada-beautiful.

Permition to drink alchohol starts at 21 years old.

That_s a good question. I think that the answer has to do with lawmakers_ perception of maturity and perhaps, to get votes. I think they believed they had to allow 18 year olds the right to vote because they were able to enlist in the military at that age. Sixteen is probably the driving age because it is convenient for parents and there was tremendous pressure for it. Drinking leads to irresponsible behavior, so they make the age for that higher.

America is in love with the automobile and they like to get kids hooked from an early age. No one under 18 should drive, really the minimum age should be more like 21.

to give kids time to mature for each activity...not all reflexes are fully developed until later...
