What are the pros and cons of living in New mexico in general?

Im looking for a place thats mostly warm and has nature near it.I also do not wish to live in a big city.

I have lived there:

Cons:
1. Housing and cost of living is extremely expensive!
2. Job market is very limited - mostly service related jobs
3. Winters are cold but not really that bad
4. Closest airport of any consequence in Albuquerque. Santa Fe does have an airport and has some commuter type service.

Pros:
1. Beautiful old city (oldest state capitol in the US)
2. Vibrant arts/cultural community
3. Excellent skiing very close (Santa Fe, Taos, etc.)
4. If you are an artist it is an excellent place to work
5. Excellent all around outdoor activities close
6. Has an excellent rail system to and from Albuquerque/Belen/Los Lunas
7. No natural disasters to speak of (Tornadoes, etc.)
8. Has 4 distinct seasons. Summers are not too hot and it is a very dry climate (no humidity)

That just about sums it up.

winters are fairly cold, its in the middle of nowhere, havent been there but ofviously its beautiful

The B, D and 4 trains run from Yankee Stadium down into Manhattan, right through the middle of it. In particular, the B or D train will stop at 86th, 79th and 72nd St right next to Central Park, and at 34th St. right next to the Empire State. You will then want to switch to the A, C, E or 1, 2, 3, or N/R trains to go down to the WTC. My friend, from Yankee Stadium, you can take the Manhattan-bound (southbound) _B_ or _D_ trains (Orange Line) to 59th Street. Once there you can transfer to the downtown (southbound) _A_ or _C_ trains (Blue Line) to the Chambers Street-WTC.

To go to the Empire State Building from WTC site, take the uptown (northbound) _A_, _C_ or _E_ trains (Blue Line) from Chambers Street-WTC to West 4th Street. At West 4th Street, transfer downstairs to the _B_, _D_, _F_ or _V_ trains (Orange Line). Take the uptown (northbound) train from West 4th Street to 34th Street.

When you exit the subway at 34th Street, walk east 1 block from the subway station to 5th Avenue and 34th Street.

From the Empire State Building to Central Park, well are several ways to get there by subway.

Option 1: take the Queens-bound (northbound) _F_ train (Orange Line Local) from 34th Street to 57th Street. When you get there, exit the subway and walk 2 blocks north along 6th Avenue to 59th Street.

Option 2: take the Queens-bound (northbound) _N_, _R_ or _W_ trains (Yellow Line) or the 57th Street-bound (northbound) _Q_ train (Yellow Line) from 34th Street to 57th Street. When you get there, exit the subway and walk 2 blocks north along Broadway to 59th Street.

Option 3: take the Queens-bound (northbound) _N_, _R_ or _W_ train from 34th Street to 5th Avenue.

Option 4: take the Bronx-bound (northbound) _B_ or _D_ train (Orange Line) from 34th Street to 59th Street - Columbus Circle.

or

Option 5: take the Bronx-bound (northbound) _B_ train (Orange Line) from 34th Street to any stop on the _B_ line from 59th Street to 110th Street. The _B_ train makes local stops from 59th Street to 125th Street.

What is there to do for enjoyment in Holland, Michigan?|117043

I am planning on visiting Holland, Michigan in July 2009 for a day and I was wondering what is there to do and see while in Holland, Michigan? Also, what is the best hotel to spend the night at if I decided to spend the night at a hotel in the area. Finally, what are some good restaurants to eat at while in Holland?

The beaches are beautiful. I recommend the state park or Kirk park. I think tunnel park sucks. Grand Haven is the best beach but it is a bit of a drive and the town is a zoo.
There is a really nice winery in Fennville that has wonderful tours and good wine. Also in Fennville is a quaint restaurant at Cranes orchard. It features deserts. Most of the restaurants in Holland suck. For a great steak go to Tony_s in Muskegon.

there has little nightlife to do, but there has a nice beach if you like.

i would choose to stay in Grand Rapids, (35-45mins drive from Holland). there is more night life, and party happening.

near the beach, there has some restaurant and in summer, the shops are even nicer. very cool.

They have the Tulip Festival in June. Other then that you can also swim in Lake Michigan.

i love Michigan its the best!

To be able to move to a better neighborhood should give her a great deal of stability.... Just remember that she may need you to tell her that she made the correct decision....

It_s been a long time since my last REAL vacation, and my husband is soon returning from Afghanistan, and I_m thinking about surprising him with a vacation (we haven_t had much of a honeymoon). We_re not beach people; we like beautiful scenery; we enjoy music history; we_re adventurous and active people who like amusements and other thrill-seeking activities. All suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help.

To combine thrill seeking _ great scenery consider renting a All Terrain Vehicle) four wheeler) A side by side ATV like the Yamaha Rhino would be a blast. There are many of these rental outlets all across the west. Depending on what kind of scenic areas you enjoy _ season you are visiting would help you to decide where to go. One suggestion is:
South-Central Utah_s 275-mile long Paiute ATV Trail is a loop trail with no beginning and no end! It passes through several towns and has side trails leading to others. Dirt Wheels magazine rated the Paiute ATV Trail as one of the best 15 trails in the country. It has been rated as one of the top 5 trails in the country by ATV Illustrated magazine. Many riders consider the Paiute Trial to be the top US trail. This is a good ride in the early spring or fall.

For music history, the first thing that comes to mind is Nashville, TN, as well as Elvis_ home Graceland, also in Tn

I would go to Mackinaw Island, MI. If it were my choice. They have a website, I am not sure what it is but just put Mackinaw Island, MI in your search engine. There are no cars allowed on the island so it is nice island you can just walk around at your own pace. Hope this helps.

My favorite has always been Mesa Verde, Colorado. It_s a national park. Stay in the Far View Lodge. The lodge is on top of the mountain at 8000 feet and at night you can see for 200 miles in every direction.

If you get tired of dead indians in the park, Arches monument and Zion canyon are close by, as is four corners.

Maybe Seattle? It_s beautiful over there with greenery all over. Also, the city center is really nice, lots of stuff to do, shop, visit museums, sightsee. I think there is a Music Experience museum over there.

You could also go snowboarding if you plan to go during snow season. Mt. Rainier is pretty close to there so I_m sure there are a lot of activities, such as hiking or mountain biking.

It_s also only a three-hour drive to Vancouver, so you could pop on over there for a day or two to see the city.

If you like the outdoors, Cooperstown New York. It_s a small _baseball_ town, but you truly get an _outdoorsy_ feeling.

San fransisco thru the Redwoods to Astoria Oregon, finish with Portland Oregon.

NOrth Shore of Minnesota - quite the _artsy_ community in Grand Marais and you could swing over to Hibbing to soak in some Bob Dylan.

Eureka Springs, Arkansas sounds exactly like what you want.

niagra falls may be touristy, but if you haven_t been there, it really is amazing and awe-inspiring. i highly recommend visiting. also, national parks like those in california and washington are beautiful. hike up the waterfall mt. vernal in california_s yosemite.
