Is it a must in USA to have 2bdr appartments if we have a baby?|195595

Dear Sirs ;),

If there is any law in US MA and nearby states to have not less then 2bdrm apartment for a family of 3 including a new born baby? We also have a small dog.

1-bdrm apartments would perfectly suit us as we plan to be close to our baby even at night for the first 1-2 years.

It_s up to the landlord.......a one bedroom would usually be rented to one person. They cannot discriminate against children, but they can tell you they don_t allow dogs, or they already have it rented. Do yourself a favor and get a two bedroom...it_s much better for you and the child. Plus, where are you going to put all the toys that you will surely accumulate?

There is absolutely no law regarding legal occupancy of an apartment. I would be very careful with the dog and the baby though. The dog may become jealous and you might want to keep an eye out while the baby is quite young.

1 bedroom sounds much too small for all four of you. Don_t lock yourself into a situation that may be impossible. There will be times when one of you may want a nap, or someone may be sick, or the dog needs a time out or something.

Yes you can_t legally share a room with your child! All that_s going to do is make your child suffer in a year or two when you decide it finally needs it_s own room! Then you_ll be having to let the kid cry it out because it wants back in your room! Do youselves and the kid a favor and don_t do this, you_ll all regret it!

actually, you CAN legally share a one bedroom with a child... A studio is one adult, one child or two adults. With a one bedroom, you could definitely live there with your baby. There is no law against that.

Things to do during the holiday season in Chicago?|179068

I_m going to Chicago next weekend and I was wondering what are some things that are must-sees during the holiday season? Where are the best places to go?

Some great Chicago attractions:

#1 -The The Museum of Science and Industry is a truly wonderful museum. You can go into a real coal mine, look at a real NASA space pod (Apollo 11? or 12), at planes, models of Downtown Chicago, submarines, trains... this is the best museum in Chicago. And be SURE to go to see one of their IMAX movies. The movie is projected on a dome, and it makes for the most SPECTACULAR film viewing on the planet, I swear on it!

#2 - The John Hancock Observatory lets you look down about a 100 stories at Downtown Chicago. It_s AMAZING. The Sears Tower lets you do the same thing, but I personally suggest the John Hancock Building. (Don_t do this on a day when it_s foggy--you_ll see nothing.)

#3 - Field Museum of Natural History. This is a pretty neat place. You can see the T-Rex dinosaur skeletons Sue here. There are easily a million artifacts here. Be warned that many exhibits here take a LONG time to look/go through.

#4 - There is the Chicago Line Cruises that let_s you tour Chicago_s architecture from a boat. It_s interesting and sometimes humorous. But it_s a bit expensive, and eats up about 2 hours. But it IS nice.

#5 - Broadway, of coarse, is here. _Wicked_ is playing, so is _Jersey Boys,_ and other amazing shows. The setback, though, is trying to get a seat.

(This isn_t Broadway, but it_s just as good, if not better: the Blue Men Group! They are the BEST permanent show in Chicago. But once again, it_s hell trying to get tickets.)

#6 - The Adler Planetarium is worth mentioning. If you like astronomy or stars at all, you_ll love this place.


Food:
#1 - Pizzeria Uno, but you need to eat at the ORIGINAL one, located at 29 E Ohio Street. This is the original _Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza_ as they say. Their oven is like, 50 years old, so the crust on the deep dish pizza is to die for, and the pizza is delicious.

(but WARNING: this is most popular place in all of Chicago for pizza. No reservations allowed. Usually takes 30 minutes for just one person to get a seat, much less a group. So yeah, the pizza is amazing, but it_s not worth waiting an hour for. But try your luck.)

Now, if you_re looking for Christmas-oriented fun, here_s some ideas:

- On November 22 is the annual Magnificent Mile Parade followed by some wicked fireworks.
- Macy_s goes all all out on Christmas, noting their annual giant tree, strung with literally thousands of lights and ornaments.
- Millennium Park has ice-skating
- The Museum of Science and Industry has a tree-ornament display.
- Navy Pier puts on some festive shows.
- The Chicago Botanic Garden has some really magical Christmas displays.

You will need a working VISA i guess so my advice is check out the website and get some info from there. Then next step will to be to schedule an appointment regarding working is US.

i would contact that friend that did the same thing so you can find out how they immigrated.

Are there any bus lines other than Greyhound that go from Houston To Dallas?|187259

Greyhound has gotten so hopped up and self important that they_re charging outrageous fees to go from Houston to Dallas. ($167 was the cheapest I could find. You could fly for that!) There is the UT bus, which is much less, but you have to either be a student or know a student, and I fall into neither of those categories. So another bus line would be really fantastic. Help?

I really don_t think there_s another bus company (that_s why the price is so high...no competition)
Megabus (www.megabus.com) is in the midwest and if that ever comes to Texas it would force greyhound to drop their proces.

well in TN there is the Great Smoky Mountains, Dollywood, Gatlinburg, etc in the far east part of the state. In the Chattanooga are there is Ruby Falls, the Incline Railway, Rock City, civil war battlefields, the aquarium and riverfront area. In the Nashville area, there is the COuntry music Hall of Fame, the Grand Ole Opry, tons of mansions and plantation homes to tour, more civil war stuff, a fabulous downtown, tons of honky tonks with live free music, 2 huge lakes with beaches, a water park, great parks for playing and hiking, museums , a farmers market and much more. In the west, there is of course Graceland, Elvis Presley_s home, Beale Street with great BBQ and music, the Peabady Hotel with the parading ducks, the river, etc. TN is a beautiful state and driving anywhere is gorgeous. Not sure about VA- sorry.... but have fun in TN!

In VA there are beaches, Luray Caverns, Blue Ridge Parkway, Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, Water Country USA, there_s a lot of stuff to do in the Hampton Roads area(Williamsburg, Yorktown, Jamestown, VA Beach) I really like Williamsburg because you can tour the old town and they have little shops with people dressed in period costumes its really fun even for kids, also, Busch Gardens is in Williamsburg too and I_m all about theme parks! Have fun!!

When will Disney begin construction on the new Fantasyland?|179730

If we visit in August, would Fantasyland be there still with all of its rides running, or will they have torn it apart and already have begun to move everything around? What are they changing besides Dumbo?

i belive that they start this month. but knowing Disney they will most likely change Fantasyland in sections but keep what ever they have completed hidden until 2013. So if u go in August then there should be a lot of it still open.
Everything north of Dumbo including mickey_s toon town fair will be changed. Everything east of Dumbo until the teacups( they will be leaving the teacups alone, they may repaint them at some point in the 3 year process though) will be changed. Its a Small World and everything else in that building and across from it will remain the same.
There are rumors that say that they will be putting Mickey_s Toon Town Fair some place else in the park or at another park. They will be keeping the barnstormer at the magic kingdom, but move it some place else.
What will be going into Fantasyland is areas for the main Disney princesses. For Bell, her town and the Beasts calste. Sleeping Beaty the cotage out in the woods. Little Mermaid a new ride and her normal spot will be changed a bit. Dumbo will sit at the back and now have two rides( fire or ice), u will walk though a circus tent and play interactive games while u wait to go on the ride.
That is what is going into the Fantasyland.

i_m not sure if the construction has started as of yet but its supposed to start early in 2010. everything besides pixie hollow will be completed by 2012 and pixie hollow will be completed by 2013.
disney tries not to disturb pre-exsisting attractions as they work on new ones but i think you will notice this constuction in a big way as mickey_s toontown fair will be completely replaced to make room for the expansion which i find sad :( but i_ve heard they will be putting it somewhere else so it won_t be gone forever.
don_t wory i_m sure your trip will still be magical though.
