What are some popular vacation cities within the USA, and what would they offer?|179983

I_m from Philadelphia and haven_t gotten to travel much. My boyfriend and I are using his vacation time in a couple months, but he said the destination is up to me and I have no idea. Which cities have a lot to offer, as well as would be a nice place to visit in March?

  • Will you be flying or driving? San Francisco is a great place to visit see Fisherman_s Wharf, Go to Monterrey

  • Destin, Florida is a good place to go towards summertime, it has GREAT beaches, but I think sharks are close by. Umm.... Orlando, Florida has Universal and Disney World or land or whatever. Santa Barbara, California is another beach place that_s good, but I think it_s expensive, but it is very popular. More expensive between May and August. It really depends on what you_re looking for. New York City has some pretty interesting things, but not much that I can list here. I would point you towards Houston, but they closed AstroWorld.... Anyway, good luck!
  • What are some fun places to go on a day trip in Florida?|169283

My best friend and I are planning a _girls weekend_ in mid August. What are some fun places to go in Florida on a day trip type thing?

  • Disney _out of the parks_ day...my girlfriends and I do girls nights there ...like we_ll split a room 3-4 ways depending on who is going and then go to dinner/lunch and a movie and then shop at Downtown Disney and then the next day get massages or facials at one of the spas at Disney.

  • It depends on what part of Florida, you are going too. If it is Central Florida, you have Disney and Universal Studios, but that usually takes a whole day to do! If you are taking a road trip, I would go to the Keys, it is very nice down there.

  • sea world
    universal studios
    busch gardens

or how about relaxing in Daytona or Miami beach?

    Have fun!

  • Panama City Beach is a lot of fun and not too expensive. A lot to do in a compact area

  • You may get up go to a spa and get prettier and then go to the beach and swim, tan, look for some boyz..Go to the mall, shopping, and put bought things in hotal or where ever...Go to the Best of Best food course ..then Go on some alsome rides And do it again and maybe throw some other this in..

  • Try tubing at the springs! I recommend Kelly Park in Apopka! Be there early! They fill up quick and close the gates! After that you girls could go to City Walk at Universal Studios and hit up the Latin Quarter. It_s a great salsa club-even if you guys don_t dance the atmosphere is fantastic! Picture this-a club that feels like your in a cave and the ceiling is a black sky with stars! Impressive!

  • Spend the day at St. Augustine. Orlando attractions would require more than a day. If you are driving then anything in south florida would take most of the day just on the road.

  • the best place in flordia i would say is discovery cove nice relacing place and it comes with a ticket to sea world or bush gardens just go to discoverycove.com

  • please try this
    _a href=_http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-174819

  • It depends on where you are staying. If you are in southern FL you may want to take a trip to the Keys for the day. If you are in Central FL take a trip to Daytona. If you are in Northern FL take a trip to Atlanta.

  • Sea world is awesome--great entertainment! Shows all throughout the day.

Islands of adventure is a must!!! Visit their site: It_s way better thany any park you may find in and around Disney.

What part of the gulf are best to go to in FL for crystal clear water?|166502

for crystal clear water....and what time of year is best to go? spring, and fall? because i usually go on vac. around the 4th of july to florida. But i want to arrive whenever there arent many storms and the water is clear.

  • Try Clearwater beach:-)

  • I think the water is best in the spring or atlest it seems like that to me.

Anna Maria island and Longboat key have some nice clear water, hopefully you don_t go when there is red tide.

  • Appalachacola

  • the gulf, it_s all good.

  • Destin, Florida is beautiful. When you step into the ocean, you can literally see your feet or anywhere in the Flroida Keys. Happy travelling!
  • What is the quickest route between Fresno and San Diego?|148566

Quickest route 405 south to 5? Someone told be to take 210 to 57 to 5? I don_t know what traffic is like through LA. What time is best to go through LA area before 4 or After 7pm? I know the 5 is easiers but isn_t the traffic terrible on it. Thanks for your help.

  • Here is my quickest route and I have driven it often. By doing this route you avoid the traffic issues and you avoid the LA area.

    From Fresno..
Go down the 99 to the 5 freeway.

While on the 5 as you come down the Grapevine you will see HIGHWAY 138. You can only take that EAST. Take it till you get to the 14 freeway then head south.

You will cross HIGHWAY 138 again where it continues, then you take this highway 138 until you get to the 15 freeway.

Take the 15 freeway south towards San Diego and it leads you right into SD.

This route is the least congested and you avoid the LA area.

    99 south to..
    5 south to..
    138 east to..
    14 south to..
    138 east to..
    15 south to
    SAN DIEGO.

It_s alot easier then it sounds here. Look it up on a map/

  • In San Diego, are you going to anywhere near highway 15?

If you_re going to be near the 15 in San Diego, then the 210 will take you all the way to the 15, which might actually be the better way to go.

If you_re not going near the 15 in San Diego, then just consider that the 405 has more carpool lanes than the 5 does, so that might be a better way to go.

Traffic is terrible on ALL freeways between 3 and 7 actually, and there is the potential for tie ups pretty much 24/7. However, the carpool lanes on the 405 really do help.

If you_re traveling by yourself, then just stick with the 5 all the way down. If you look on a map, the 405 is just a big loop of highway 5. They meet twice - once up in Sylmar, and again down in El Toro, however the 5 all the way is a much more direct route and will easily cut about 40-50 miles from your trip, even if you DO run into more traffic.

So, to sum up ... going near the 15? Take the 210 all the way across (it has a carpool almost the whole duration from beginning to end). Travelling not near the 15, but with a friend? Take the 405 because it has more carpool lanes than the 5, even though it_s more miles. Travelling by yourself, not near the 15? Take the 5 because it_s more direct even though it might have more traffic problems.

A word of caution if you do decide on the 5: WATCH YOUR SIGNS ! The East LA interchange can be daunting, but if you pay attention, you_ll do just fine.

    Happy driving !!

Oh yea ... keep your radio on AM 980 and AM 1070 for frequent traffic updates.

    :D

  • Hay Chihuahua! Perro de Lava sounds a lot like Mad Dog!

But he_s right. Cut over Pearblossom Highway (138), and avoid the whole LA traffic scene altogether. I_ve used that cutoff when I want to avoid the usual Friday night getaway traffic to Vegas.

  • take the 99 to 5
go thru the valley and LA and santa ana between 9am and 2pm or after 9pm

  • your best bet is I 5 to hwy 99 and go through LA after 7 or around 2 pm if you are traveling in the afternoon or evening
  • What is the fastest route between San Diego and San Francisco?|145785

Is it faster to take 405 through L.A., instead of the usually congested 5? Should I switch to 101 to avoid the fog in the central valley? If I take 5 all the way up, is it better to take 152 back through Gilroy, or go all the way up through 580? What if there_s a winter storm brewing? What is the best time to avoid traffic?

  • If the weather is good and you avoid rush hour in LA, I_d say I-5 all the way to I-580. 101 is a lot slower than I-5 unless there_s fog in the Central Valley or snow on the Grapevine. 152 is always bad news. You can call the CalTrans number 1-800-GAS-ROAD and get current info on particular highways.
  • What is the best tent campground at Glacier National Park?|158785

I note that there are two campground at Glacier National Park - Fish Creek and St. Mary. It appears that Fish Creek is on the water. I am looking for the best tent campground and the best site at that campground. I am not really interested in being in a campground with a bunch of Motorhomes. Would prefer a more secluded type of place. Unable to do back country due to the fact that it is going to be just me and my young daughter.

  • Fish Creek is a beautiful site!

  • Since the only way to get to Glacier Bay National Park is by ferry, there will not be any motor homes (or cars if I remember correctly).
I would suggest staying at the Bartlett Cove campground right near the visitors center and the lodge.
Not to freak you out, but I personally wouldn_t be brave enough to camp there, we saw too many bears when we were there. We stayed in the lodge.
It is BEAUTIFUL there, enjoy your visit!
  • How do you get to Yankee Stadium by subway?|131829

If we are staying at a hotel on East 42nd and 3rd street and wanted to get to Yankee Stadium on a Saturday how would one do that?

  • Walk to Grand Central Station and take a Bronx bound 4 train to Yankee Stadium--161 Street.

It should take about 25-30 minutes to get there, but allow extra time as the subway cars get very crowded on game days.

  • MTA_s trip planner will give you the best options for the time of day you_re planning to travel. Note, though, that you_ll want to leave early to get there, as the subways are very crowded to and from the stadium on gamedays.

  • take the 4 train uptown at grand central station (42nd st between lexington avenue and vanderbilt avenue) to 161st street and you are there.

  • Take the uptown Bronx bound 4 train to 161 St/Yankee Stadium stop. The train is one block west from your Hotel in Grand Central Station (look for MTA subway signs there).

  • Take the 4, to 161st st.

  • the 4 to 161st
