Transportation from NYC to Six flags adventure park New Jersey?|102110

Hi,

We are going to NYC in October and are planning on going to Six Flags but do not want to hire a car, is there a bus service to Six Flags and back?

If so where do we go to get it, how much, and what number etc?

NJ Transit Bus 308 from Port Authority Bus Terminal (42nd St_Times Sq), Gate 324.

Runs once a day to Six Flags, at 9:30am, 7 days a week. 3 times a day back.

Travel time: 2hrs

Cost: $50, Including admission to Six Flags.

You can take a bus from the Port Authority. If you google them, they have a bus service schedule online that tells you when the bus departs. I believe it goes to 6flags on Saturdays and Sundays (although it might go during the week as well). The cost includes the bus ride and the entrance fee.

I am originally from Dallas, Texas and never lived or visited a high altitude city.

I used to live in Dallas - the altitude won_t be your biggest factor. That will take no time. It will be the lack of humidity that will take a LOT of getting used to.

Now I hated the humidity in Dallas, so I love how dry it is here. But your skin/nose/hair will need quite a while to adjust.

It varies. I moved here from the UK and have never once been affected by the altitude. However, my partner moved here from California a few months ago and he stills finds climbing lots of stairs leaves him a bit breathless and he can_t run as far/exercise for as long as he did (and he_s pretty fit). You_ll just have to come here and see - just take it easy and don_t go rushing into anything too strenuous for a few weeks. Oh yes, and drink lots of water!

It_s very dry here. Also easy on the booze , you can catch a buzz real quick because of the altitude.

What transportation should i use to get from San Francisco to the University of California Santa Barbara?|179080

I want to be able to easily get from the station/airport, to the campus. I will have a big luggage and items from home to move into a Residential Hall. Anyone have options and directions?

Look for a ride share.
The campus may have a posting for this or check on criagslist.
If nothing else rent a truck for a one way trip.
But your best bet is to find others in your area who also will be traveling down for school. In this way you may establish rides at shared cost for the holidays as well.

Directions are quite simple. Take 101 south for about 320 miles give or take. Honestly if you have a lot stuff for college, I would seriously recommend renting a car and driving. It takes approximately 5 hours to drive. As others have mentioned, SB is not very close to SF. Your better bet flying is either Los Angeles or Santa BArbara or San Luis Obispo. Those airports are all within approximately 90 - 100 miles of SB.

If you want public transit, your best bet would be to take bart to Emeryville and pick up Amtrak there. Or take bart to Millbrae and then pick up the caltrain down to San Jose, and transfer to amtrak there.

I_d recommend taking Amtrak! the Coast Starlight offers daily direct rail service between the Bay Area and Santa Barbara. The ride is nice _ the cost reasonable! Other departure time options are also possible but combine Amtrak rail with a thruway bus connection for a portion of the trip. Good Luck!

Los Angeles {LAX} is much closer to Santa Barbara than San Francisco [SFO} Otherwise I would take Amtrack..Probably Bart to Oakland or Emeryville train stations then straight down to Santa Barbara..you could also take Amtrack from los Angeles to Santa Barbara.

Jetpacks and hanggliders are nice because you can skip traffic.

Santa Barbara is a long way from San Francisco.

You might want to find a closer airport - perhaps Los Angeles.

Please only answer if you have been there or have a very good knowledge of the city. In addition, when I mean cleanest I mean not very dusty and no extreme amounts of pollen because I have allergies to them.

We go to Branson Missouri and love it.Rooms are reasonable,lots of entertainment,safe,and lots to do.Try it out.You can walk the strip,play golf, go to an amusemnt park, attend great shows, visit a winery and so much more.

What other things can we do besides hanging out at the beach all day on Oahu?|177930

I have it all planned out but I also don_t want for us to spend everyday outside in the sun. Other than restaurants and shopping malls, we want to do other indoor or non beach things while at Waikiki. What are some things we could also do in the Waikiki, Honolulu, Ala Moana area?

I went there three times. A few things I_d suggest doing that I found fun were the following:

-Rent a moped and you can drive it around the island, I went from Waikiki beach to Diamond Head, then hiked.. great views, killer mountain... you_ll definitely break a sweat but the views are spectacular from there.

-Hanauma Bay for snorkling-- yes they say its soOo touristy-- but I went to the local spots, I_ve done the boat rides where they drop you off in the middle of the ocean to snorkle--but the variety you get at Hanauma is the best... and it_s pretty easy for you to stand if you need to.

- Go to all the yummy places to eat:
* Matsumoto Shaved Ice
* Giovanni_s Shrimp Truck
* Leonard��s Bakery- famous malasadas (like a doughnut but Hawaiian style)
* Ted��s Bakery- cheap plate lunches and the best guava strawberry pie and chocolate haupia pie; super cheap (near Sunset Beach off the kamehameha hwy)
* Alan Wong��s- great restaurant, must try the macadamia nut crusted lamb and the mochi crusted onaga (1857 S. King St. 3rd floor (808)949-2526) reservations recommended
* Waiola��s Shave Ice- good shave ice, try the lychee flavored shave ice with vanilla ice cream on the bottom or condensed milk (525 Kapahulu Avenue)
* Rainbow Drive Inn- cheap local food, good HUGE plate lunches and chili (3308 Kanaina Avenue)
* Sam Choy��s Diamond Head Restaurant- large portions, Hawaiian/Fusion food (449 Kapahulu Avenue, Second Floor

Those are all the places that I liked, when I went to eat there...:)
(I_ve given this list of restaurants to all my friends who go and they rave about the food)

- International Market Place is fun to try and bargain with the vendors--But the Flea Market is cheaper :)

- Stop by Costco if you want to buy alcohol, it_s cheaper to buy in bulk sized-- you can also get your boogie board there

- North Shore is good IF you swim and like heavy waves.. otherwise it may be too crazy for you, and you_ll just be sitting on the beach

- They have lots of nice spa places if you want to be indoor and get pampered.

- We did go swimming at night too in Waikiki Beach

OOOooO and if you like Spam Masubi, I_ve had my fair share there and 7-11 has the best one.. no joke! I swear... it_s the best.

Oahu has alot of attractions for you to visit. Pearl Harbor is on the island, hike Diamond Head, visit the Iolani Palace, go to the Dole Pineapple Plantation and try some yummy pineapple icecream; go to the north shore to watch the big waves. Head over to the Polynesian Cultural Center and spend a day there. Take a sunset dinner cruise, watch the hula show on Waikiki Beach around sunset. Go shopping in the international marketplace. Dive with sharks, go snorkeling, visit the water park, go to the zoo.

Is bidding for a hotel on priceline worth it?|188149

I am planning on going to Las Vegas April 17 and returning April 20 and I am currently looking for a good. Is priceline worth using, I know you can_t pick the hotel, is 150 a night an ok price to use to get a good 4 star hotel? Or even a 100 a night for a good 4 star hotel?

You may do better just trying to book a room at the website of one of the hotels. Take a look on Trip Advisor for some reviews. More than likely you may be able to get a better discount going directly through the hotel.

We saved almost $200 using priceline for our Vegas trip.
And rooms in any 4 star Vegas hotel are going to be a little pricey--so I_d say that the price you_re getting is pretty normal, if not better than average.

I used travelocity when I went to Vegas, that is where I got the best deal!

I never find any great deals on travel sites like that. I usually find the cheapest rate on the hotel website itself. Even if I don_t, I sign up for the email promotions from my favorite hotels and usually receive an email before my trip offering a low rate. For the last two years we have stayed at Excalibur for $50/ night or less. I have also received deals from Luxor for $60 or $70 a night. I just don_t see the point in paying for a ritzy hotel, when you aren_t going to be spending much time in the room. While you are in Vegas, you can go to any hotel you want and access what they have to offer. So my advice is to sign up for each hotel_s email offers, and hope to see some discounted rates in your inbox. Have fun- I_ll be there during the last week of March.

What are some good things to do while visiting Minneapolis?|162155

I_m going to the Mall of America, but I_m wondering what else there is to do...
I don_t want to do all of the touristy things (I want to do some), but I do want to see the city and what it has to offer. What do locals do while exploring their city? What are some good restaurants? What_s a cool bar to check out? Where_s good shopping?

downtown minneapolis has good shopping and good restaurants. I_d hit up hennepin ave for some good bars. First Avenue is a good music venue. The MOA is a cool place and I_m sure you_ll like that. That_s the best place to shop because there are soooo many stores. A lot of the locals do the segway tour (most tourists don_t even know about it) It_s a ton of fun!
