What city should I write on the letters if I leave in Queens?|124642

I leave in Queens, New York, so do I need to write Queens as the city where I leave or I can say and write that I leave in new york, so my postal address will be New York, New York? Will i get my mail if i write New York, New York? Queens is one of the boroughs of New York, even if i leave in Queens technically its still NYC, right?

  • Queens addresses always include the neighborhood of their post office is located in.

    So you would write

    Rego Park, NY

    not

    Queens, NY

    or

    NY, NY

That last one (NY, NY) is reserved for Manhattan.

This has to do with how the post office is organized and not the fact that this is all NYC. Of course, it IS, but these rules go back to before NYC was a unified city in the 19th century. Back then, NYC was just Manhattan, Staten Island, and parts of the Bronx. Brooklyn was an independent city of its own, and Queens was a collection of small towns.

Now, even though we are all part of the same big City, too many addresses would be the same if we all wrote NY, NY on our envelopes. For example, the address I live at in Brooklyn is the exact same address as a building in Manhattan. If I wrote NY, NY on my envelope it would look like it was the building in Manhattan instead of my building in Brooklyn.

So you need to find out what post office this is going to and use that name in your address.

  • do not write new york, ny ( as that_s for manhattan), and don_t write queens, ny. I_ve lived in Queens my entire life and there is NO ONE who writes their address as that. We write the neighborhood we live in. So if you live in Astoria, you write: Astoria, NY; Flushing= Flushing, NY, etc.
I mean, you_ll probably get your address, so long as the postcode is correct. People sometimes write the neighborhood next to mine and I still get it. But I_ve never had anything say NY, NY come to me, nor have I ever had anything say Queens, NY.

  • Eugene, Queens is very tricky when it comes to witting a letter. Due to the size of the borough, the post office recommends you include the name of the neighborhood you_re residing in. For example:

    John Doe
    12-34 Main Street
    Long Island City, NY 11101

I hope this information is very helpful.

    Good luck

  • You should put Queens, NY (instead of New York, NY) or even better, the actual city and zip code like below.

    Jamercan Steve
    C/O Club Tobago?
    147-02 Liberty Avenue
    Queens, NY 11435

    or

    Jamercan Steve
    C/O Club Tobago?
    147-02 Liberty Avenue
    Jamaica, NY 11435

  • All of the above answers are correct, of course, but the bottom line (literally) is that if the zip code is present and correct (especially if you use the zip+4), your letter will get to where it_s going just fine.

Good luck, and the link below is to the official page where you can look up zip+4 zip codes...

  • Yes, you live in a borough of New York, so on the letter it shows:
    NY. Queens by postal standard.
NY is because it is both City and state names, and makes the postal service_ work and your time well saved, rational

  • Having lived there for a while I would say yes. A mailing address of NY, NY should be fine, however, I have always erred on the side of caution and I would always put Brooklyn, NY when I lived there.

  • do you know your zip code? if you do, then use this US Postal Service web page:
    http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/citytown_zip.j
and enter it there, and one result will give you the _Actual City name in [zip]_, and use it!

How long does it take to drive from Lewisville to Garland?|175629

If you are driving in rush hour traffic in the morning from Lewisville to Garland... how long will it take you to get there on an average day?

I_d like to know going both from 35 to 635 and also going the George Bush Turnpike either down the tollway or 75 to 635.

  • George Bush-75 or 35: 37 minutes.
    35-635:46 minutes.
This will change depending on traffic. As a general rule Traffic in the morning will be headed south and west. Traffic around 5 will be headed north and east. However, 635 gets backed up for both morning and 5pm commutes. This is not so for Bush. 75 also will tend to get backed up more often. Best of Luck!

  • Most direct route is travel south on 35 from Lewisville, then east on 635 to Garland, about 90 minutes. Along the George Bush is direct into Garland also probably less traffic. Forget 75 to 635 in the morning bad flow from Plano into Dallas.

  • It depends on the route. If you take the George Bush turnpike all the way you might be able to make it in 30 minutes since you will be going against the normal flow. Goung down 35 to 635 will take 45 minutes or longer depending on the wrecks. Add 30 minutes for rain, 2 - 3 days for snow or ice.
  • What is the best cost parking location in San Francisco near Union Square?|175148

I need to go to union square in San Francisco this weekend and the mall parking seems very expensive at almost $35.00! Even if it is within .5 miles.

  • My suggestion is leave the car at home.public parking will run you 15 to $20 a day. It_s cheaper to find the parking spot outside the city and take BART to the mall.

  • The cheapest garages are the city-owned ones. That would be the Sutter/Stockton garage or the 5th _ Mission garage.

The entrance to Sutter/Stockton is tricky. You need to go north on Grant Street, then west on Sutter, then right on Stockton.

  • If it were me, if you are coming from the South Bay or the East Bay, I would just take hte BART into downtown. Parking can get really expensive.

  • Where is the best area for Democrats to live in Georgia?|161269

I am thinking of relocating in the next year or two to Georgia to be closer to my mother, who lives near Atlanta. I am currently a very active member of the Democratic party and would like to remain so, and would like to know if there are certain areas around Atlanta that have a higher democratic population than others. Anyone have an idea?

  • Tommy probably moved from the midwest or a northern place and thinks it is all right to be crude. Still, Georgia is very politically conservative. If you are A-A, go to directly to Atlanta or any suburban area where the great majority of black citizens are Democrats and the party is alive and well. If you are white (or anything else), Atlanta -- city of, not burbs -- may be your best choice if you don_t mind constant traffic hassels, a higher cost of living, and some few people to share your political interests. If you can keep your political conversation in check, smaller, nicer places are Macon, Augusta, Gainesville.

  • Athens would also be a good option. It is home of a large university, so the people are going to be more educated and open-minded.

  • I have never heard of anyone wanting to choose a place to live based on party affiliation, BUT, my suggestion to you would be to live in the metro. Atlanta area simply because there is more diversity of mind here. I think Democrats are usually more liberal-minded and many other parts of GA (rural _ small town) are traditionally conservative.

I_ve lived in the metro ATL area for 10 years now and love it!

  • I wouldn_t do that... but if you must.. ATL and athens.... they are different democrats than blue state dems... don_t do macon or gainesville as someone sudgested they are absoulte holes. If you just want to go south then I_d recomend NC... they are the most progressive state in the south.

  • Liberal Democrats are not welcome in the South.

  • Living in _intown_ or ITP (in the perimeter) Atlanta would be your best choice, but mind you, what area does your mother live? If you live in the wrong direction, you could be in some serious traffic. Just like any city, most Democratic-minded persons live in urban areas. I_m not sure of the reason, but my assumption would be the greater diversity of not just the people but activities. I think you would like Inman Park, Midtown, and/or Virginia Highland area.
  • How much tax do they add on for a 1 day disney magic kingdom ticket?|172367

I am going with my daughter in a few days and want to know how much tax they will add on at the gate? Also do you know how much tax they will add on for Seaworld?

  • Tax is 6.5%. You might want to buy the Sea World tickets online. You can get your adult ticket at child_s prices.

  • One day ticket with tax comes out to about $74.00. I believe tax in Orlando is about 6-7%. So you_ll pay about $4-$6 in tax..

  • 6.5 percent of the ticket. that would be...4.22 i think if i remember well the price of the ticket: 65 dollars.

sea world is 60 dollars per ticket, and 6.5 percent too.

but...hang arround the main gate a little bit...and maybe one employ can approach you selling you tickets at 30 dollars.
