What are good day trips out of Northern Virginia?|154753

I live in Northern Virginia and I want to get out of the state for a day trip, where are some good places to go? Places that are easy to get to and cheap.

Harpers Ferry West VA is nice. It_s a charming little town with amazing mountain views. Lots of nice and affordable bed and breakfasts there and great hiking. Only about an hour and a half drive from northern VA.
