How do I dress for a 56F to 31F Chicago weather?|159202

I have lived in California most of my life and I_ll be going to Chicago.

  • ok I live in Phoenix, AZ and frequently travel to Chicago b/c my bf_s family lives there (about 30 mins east of Chicago)

    jeans are a given.

sweatshirts, long-sleeved layering shirts (these work good for if you get hot-I did a few times during the day and we were there in November), a heavy winter jacket (and a light windbreaker for the warmer days), gloves, scarf, hat.

for night-I wore flannel pajamas and slipper socks.

bring along winter boots (for snow) just in case. I brought those along with my good tennis shoes and winter dress boots.

the cold isn_t so bad-it_s the WIND combined with the cold-lol. I could not believe how windy it was!! the cold I could actually handle pretty well and i_m used to temps being 95-110!!

just make sure to have the gloves, hat, scarf and jacket and you should be fine. I_d go w/out the long underwear-they are uncomfortable and you_ll probably get too hot and itchy.

    have fun on your trip!!!

  • A sweatshirt (or a sweater) and a fleece. If it is going to be windy a sweatshirt (or sweater), a winter coat, and a hat. Bring with gloves just in case.

I_d suggest taking the layers off when if you are going to be inside for a while (10 minutes or longer). This means jacket and sweater/ sweatshirt off. You won_t over heat inside and you_ll be warmer when you go outside.

I know what I am talking about. I have lived most of my live in Chicago and a few years in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, which makes Chicago seem warm during the winter, where I would go on hikes for hours when there were double digit below zero wind chills.

  • Dress likes its going to be 15F. The windchill can take the actual temp down a few degrees. Winter Jacket with lining, hat, gloves,
    gor-tex boots. Smart Wool socks.

If you are going to be outside for awhile bring your long underware as well.

Hope you have fun up here!

  • Layers. You can always peel off or add too as temperature and wind changes.
  • How long does it take to mail a trumpet from Baltimore, Md to Toronto, On?|159683

I have an uncle in Baltimore and he is going to mail me the trumpet he wants to give me as a gift. How long before I receive it?

  • It depends on how fast he ships it, the carrier he chooses to ship it, and the shipping service he chooses to purchase. Essentially, that means nobody can tell you, except your uncle.

If you want to guess, check out usps.com, and ups.com, either one of which is likely to end up being the company that he chooses for delivery.

  • As we know, a trumpet is a weapon of mass destruction so Home Security may delay shipment, but if all the customs stuff is properly taken care of, 4-5 days.
  • What should I pack for my 3 day trip to Santa Monica this summer?|170593

I am going to Santa Monica for 3 days this summer and will only be bringing a carry-on. What should I wear on the plane, and what should I pack. I will be staying at a hotel near the beach and the pier _ promenade _ will going out for dinner (not too fancy) at night. No clubbing either. I am a female in my 30s.

  • Anything with liquids or gels is out, so that means you will have to purchase stuff like toothpaste, sunscreen etc. when you get there. Pack traveller_s checks, credit cards and financial stuff of course..... changes of undies, socks and other clothes are always good (you never know when you might spill something on your clothes and have to change!), and a nightie unless you sleep in your birthday suit. Bandaids, aspirin, a little tube of antibiotic cream ( you are allowed to bring small tubes of gel along now), any meds you use on a regular or frequent basis, perhaps a couple of tabs of melotonin if you are crossing several time zones.... the usual stuff you_d bring on a short trip. A couple of good books wouldn_t hurt either: you never know when they might come in handy!! If you have a favorite brand of soap or something like that that you don_t know if you can get there, bring that along as well: anything you might need to stay comfortable. Sun glasses would be nice: that place is almost always sunny it seems!! Finally, a rain jacket (one never knows!) and a change of shoes - you can_t wear either sneakers or dressy shoes for three days solid, on the kind of trip you have outlined!

  • Be sure to bring your sunscreen. Watch this informational u tube video:

What are best places to see in colorado and Wyoming/yellowstone in summer?|133599

I am planning to take my family (2 kids, 1 1yr old baby) to colorado and Yellostone. What are some of the family friendly (witha a 1 year baby) that we can do and see? Any place to avoid? What are some of good places to stay? Is there any good travel experience sites for this?

  • Rocky mtn Nat_l Park, just north of Denver is great. It is right next to the little town of Estes Park...a great place to stay. there are many short guided hikes in the park...fabulous scenery. Be sure to go to the top of Trail Ridge Road for a fabulous view. Family activities in Estes park tp. About half hr south of there is the Butterfly pavilion in Westminster...great for young kids. in Denver...about one hour south of Estes park there is a Six Flags with a water park in it and there ia also another huge water park in Denver. Teh Denver Zoo is fantastic for kids and adults. Teh White Fence Farm and Casa Bonita restaurants are terrific for kids and families. Lots of outdoor and indoor activities within an hr of each other. Could spend a few days in Estes Park, then few more in Denver or close for activities there. Denver has a great Children_s Museum too. iIhave put some links below for you to see. hope you have a great vacation.
  • How long does shipping take from Singapore to CA?|146201

She used a delivery confirmation and it shows that it left Singapore, but still nothing with USPS. She shipped it out October 15th. Do you think I will ever receive the item?

  • It depends on how the item was shipped. If it went by ship then it could take up to 8-10 weeks to arrive; by plane about 2-3 weeks.

It also depends on if it was held up by customs on either or both ends.

  • whats a singapore?
  • Is it possible to go to Magic Kingdown, Hollywood Studios and Epcot all in one day?|137606

Is it possible to go to Magic Kingdown, Hollywood studios and Epcot all in one day? We would only do a few rides/shows in each, but is it possible? How close are all 3 to each other?

  • I am going to be blunt and say NO!

There is honestly so much to do, and it is soooo spread out that you really can_t do those park that quickly.

If you are looking to have a nice enjoyable day, just pick a park, and do that one for an entire day, and you will see that it will be a much more enjoyable experience!

  • Sure you could so long as you bought a park-hopper as an add on to your tickets which allows you to visit more than one park in a single day.

Allow 30-45 minutes for travel between each park. Epcot and the Ticket and Transportation Center (TTC) are connected by monorail, and the Magic Kingdom is connected by a separate monorail that also stops at the TTC. To get between Epcot and Hollywood Studios, you can walk, take a boat, or catch a bus.

See the underlined rides on this page for a version of don_t miss rides and attractions at each park!!:

    Have a great trip!

  • Yes, if you want to create stress, long lines, and exaustion. They are far away from each other and you will wait in lines all day. The only way to avoid the lines is to go very early in the morning or very late at night, and you can_t do all four at those times. Although I strongly discourage it, I would advise you to go in this order:

    Magic Kingdom 9:00-12:00
    EPCOT 12:30-2:00
    Animal Kingdom 2:30-5:00
    Hollywood Studios 5:30-10:00

Hope you have fun, though Disney is soooooooooooooo much better if you space it out!

  • Wow! Very ambitious! In my experience, you might as well account for at the bare minimum, 30 minutes to transfer between parks. One hour is more likely, especially if you are using Disney_s transport. You might be able to move more quickly if using your own car. But it takes always takes more time than you think that it will.

I really wouldn_t try this, personally. Like you said, you will only have time to do a VERY few things in each park. Epcot is absolutely huge just to walk around. If you went in and just rode say, Mission: Space, Soarin, and Test Track which are the 3 biggest rides there, they are very close together. But the wait time is huge. And you may not be able to take advantage of Fastpass to skip the line later, because you may be going to another park later. So you could probably expect to spend at least an hour for each of those attractions. That_s 3 hours of your day, plus an hour for transfer. See what I mean? And that_s being conservative on time estimates.

If you insist on trying more than one park, I would recommend dropping Epcot simply because of its size. Start out at Magic Kingdom WHEN IT OPENS and hit the big rides right away. Switch to Hollywood Studios at lunch or slightly after. Check the opening/closing times on Disney_s website. Studios is sometimes open later because of showing Fantasmic. If it is closing early, go there first instead and finish at Magic Kingdom. Be prepared to rush, rush, rush!

  • I think it_s very rush. You may need to queue up in long lines just to take a few popular rides/shows especially during summer. Perhaps buying the Express queue tickets can save more time.

I was there last summer, and I visited only two parks in a day - first day was Animal Kingdom and Epcot; second day was Hollywood studios and Magical Kingdom (don_t miss the fireworks), and we missed some popular rides due to lack of time. All parks can be reached by Disney buses taken from Disney terminal, quite close to one another. If you have only a day, no choice, go Epcot, followed by Hollywood Studios as they will have parade march in the afternoon, then finally to Magical Kingdom and catch the awesome firework.

  • Infortunately not, I was there for 3 days and still coudln_t fit it all in. I mean, anything is possible, you can maybe make it to all 3 parks. But as far as getting to them all and doing rides in each one, whether it be just a few, there is not time for all of it.

  • Since a one-day park hopper, which is necessary to do more than one park in a day, costs over $100 it wouldn_t be cost effective to do. Plus you need to give yourself an hour to get from park to park (Walt Disney World is twice the size of Manhattan), so you_ve now wasted 2 hours of your day. I_d bet you only see one or maybe two things at each park.

  • Yes, you can visit all 3 parks in one day, but if you have never been to one or thee other you will miss-out on a lot of attractions and shows as you will run out of time.

  • Of course, you just need the park-hopper pass. It is a great thing, you can just go to one park to eat and another to ride the attractions.

  • No way... my mom took my nephews to disney and she told me you cant even see 1 whole park in 1 day... and the lines are LONG.. then you have to travel to the other parks too, so no....

  • I think you would be exhausted if you tried to do all that in one day! I would not attempt more than 2 parks in one day.

  • Of course, but you will miss a lot and be exhausted at the end of it.

What cb radio channels are used in houston texas?|155266

I just got a new cb radio in my truck and i live in houston. i travel on 610 and 59 and 288 on the daily. i was wondering if there were any specific channels used in this are.

  • People use CB? Really? Still?

I owned one in 1979. Looked a little ridiculous with that huge antenna on the trunk of my _69 Mercury Marquis. It broke off in the Galleria parking garage and replacing it once was enough. That was the old quarter wave antenna back when 4 watts was maximum power transmission.

    Channel 9 was for emergencies
Channel 19 replaced channel 10 as the highway (trucker) channel.

If you do still hear chatter, it_ll probably be on 19. I_m sure some folks (mainly truckers) still use them.
